About the Course

If you are following a practice-based course (e.g.: Medicine, Health Sciences, Psychology, Education, Social Work), then you will at some point in each academic year need to prepare for workplace exposure...as will those who are ready to graduate and transition permanently into the workplace. Whether you're preparing for an observation, or preparing to put your learning into practice in a practicum or a new job, it can be a little daunting if you've never been in a workplace setting before.

These tutorials are designed to prepare you for what is to come, what to expect, and how to get the best out of the practicum or workplace experience. They can be specifically related to your dyslexia, focussed on strategies to overcome anticipated barriers (e.g.: note-taking during meetings, remembering verbal instructions, taking phone messages, form-filling, deconstructing policy and procedure documents), or can target workplace communication (e.g.: written - memos, meeting minutes, letters, ; spoken - presentations, participating in meetings, taking/making business calls, communicating effectively with clients/patients/students/colleagues), etiquette, etc.
